"Those who believe, and do deeds of righteousness, and establish regular prayers and regular charity, will have their reward with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve" (Quran 2:277)
Assalamu Alaikum Wa’rahmatu’Allah Wa’Barakatu,
As we embrace this holy month, and surrender our hearts and minds with the sincere intent of pleasing Allah (SWT).
We find ourselves adjusting to unfamiliar circumstances.
As you know, the public health emergency called by the provincial leadership has impacted our large group gatherings, as the COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to temporarily close the Al Rashid Mosque doors to our worshippers.
With the above in mind, as we welcome this gifted month of Ramadan, we find that many of our religious norms have been challenged. But the essential workers that proudly serve our community are still very active and committed to ensure that the many services of the Al Rashid Mosque, will continue to be provided, Insha Allah. To name a few, these fortunate services include:
- Conducting virtual presentations (including Friday sermons)
- Marriage services and counselling
- Funeral services
- Family counseling
- Financial aid (funeral services/tuition support)
- Quran classes
- Youth and Senior Clubs
We do not know how long this pandemic will last, but we do know that our islamic norms and the many services our mosque provides should never be seized or compromised.
In the past, during Ramadan, literally thousands of spiritual worshippers attended daily prayers, and gave their zakat and/or sadaqa to the mosque.
It was this generous community and its clear intent that helped us raise more than one million dollars last year, Alhumdilillah, and we are ever so grateful.
Brothers and sisters, we need your help.
This year the physical absence of our worshippers, will make our fundraising a challenge. You may not be able to come to the mosque, and we may not be able to come to you, but you can spiritually motivate yourself and others to step forward with your donations. Every year in this gifted and powerful month, donations are collected for the Al Rashid Mosque to help fund annual operating costs. These costs have not gone away during this pandemic, and for these reasons it is imperative that this amazing community once again comes together.
We look forward to your support, and we thank you in advance.
We recognize that many of our brothers and sisters have been affected by this pandemic and its unfortunate consequences. We will stand as one community, and we will get through these tested times together, Insha Allah.
May Allah (SWT) protect you and yours from sickness and allow us to join again in prayer, service, and celebration in the near future, and may your sincere intent and good deeds be rewarded in this holy month, Insha Allah. Thank you, once again for your ongoing support to our very own Al Rashid Mosque.
