In the North Shoa Zone of the Oromia region of Ethiopia many healthcare centres don’t use proper health management information recording systems for emergency services, don’t even have separate rooms designed for emergency care services, nor triage services. Staff in the local health centres often don’t know the best practices for proper emergency systems or have the training or experience to manage acute life-threatening conditions even before a diagnosis is made. It is estimated that nearly half of all deaths and a third of disabilities in low- and middle-income countries result from conditions that could be addressed by emergency care.
This donation will help improve medical emergencies health outcomes. It will help train healthcare providers on comprehensive emergency healthcare services, provide scheduled mentorship to local doctors and nurses, and reinforce the provision of emergency heatlhcare services at health centres and hospitals.
