The Calgary Rainbow Railroad Station is a partnership project to help LGBTQ+ people flee very high-risk scenarios, ensure their safety, and then integrate these persecuted LGBTQ+ people into Canada. It can only occur with the supportive help of local people in the community and nationally.
For every person we host in Canada, we are required to pay $16,500 in living expense and find $3,500 in start-up expenses. It is estimated that another $10,000 per person is often required to support them in other ways, such as through support services, support groups, volunteer support, and in other ways. All funds collected will go to various aspects of these costs needed to settle people in Calgary.
