The purpose of the society is to collect, preserve and promote the military history of Vedder Crossing, Canadian Forces Base Chilliwack and, as it was known by previous names and predecessors, and the relationship between the Base, the local communities, and with all previous military activity involving Canada and other countries. Specifically the Society wishes to:
a) collect objects and archival documents related to the history of Canadian Forces Base Chilliwack, it’s predecessors, and the Vedder Crossing area;
b) establish a location for the display of objects specific to the history of locations mentioned above;
c) provide assistance and advice regarding the maintenance and upkeep of the All Sapper’s Memorial Park at Vedder Crossing, BC;
d) undertake research, education and other activities that promote a greater understanding of the role that the military has played in the development of the local, national and international communities;
e) provide opportunities for youth, local residents and serving or retired members of the Canadian Forces to become involved in the operations of the Society;
f) secure the necessary funding to carry out the objectives of the Society.
The society shall protect all relevant military history, in the Fraser Valley, constructively educate youth as to how their freedom was secured and to assist veterans in telling their stories to our youth.
