Closer to Home serves some of Calgary and Airdrie's most vulnerable children, youth and families. Many of these families were already struggling with poverty before the COVID-19 crisis, and are now even more concerned about how they will support their families through this pandemic.
They need to know how to access income support programs that will help them keep a roof over their heads and food on their tables. They need to know how to support their children, who may be confused about why they can no longer attend school or spend time with their friends. And, because many of these families do not have access to the internet at home, they need help to access information about the latest COVID-19 protocols, how to keep their families safe, and more.
We are providing emergency support to these families to bridge the gap during this crisis, including one-on-one calls with our staff, basic needs support, help with their mental and physical health, parenting strategies to prevent and manage conflict at home, and more.
A gift to Closer to Home today will provide instant relief and support to some of the most vulnerable children and families in our community.
