Hurricane Irma – A Uniquely Canadian Response!
EMERGENCY: Hurricane Irma has devastated several low-lying Caribbean islands. Early reports say at least 24 people have died. Massive damage has been reported across the islands already savaged by the storm. Barbuda, Saint-Martin and British Virgin Islands are heavily hit.
Canadians can help by supporting our volunteer teams of Canadian health professionals. We are in direct contact with local partners at this moment to see where our help is most urgently needed. We are preparing to potentially deploy within the next 2-3 days to one of the hard-hit island where our medical expertise can do the most good. We’re stockpiling medicines, arranging flights and securing travel documents.
We're CMAT – Canadian Medical Assistance Teams. We're a volunteer-run registered charity. We have been to every one of the last 14 natural disasters around the world in the past 10 years. You can help get us to the Caribbean by donating today.
As part of our support unit, you will receive email updates as our deployment evolves and we will tell you exactly where your dollars have been put to use and how you’ve helped save lives.
