In 2016, Conservation Halton Foundation and our partners in the Cootes to Escarpment EcoPark System purchased almost 100 acres in the Dundas area of Hamilton. And now that we own these lands, they will be permanently protected in their natural state.
This is a beautiful property with a tributary of Grindstone Creek, forested valleys, and wildflower meadows that provide songbird and pollinator habitat.
These lands join parcels already owned and protected by Conservation Halton, the Hamilton Naturalists’ Club and the Hamilton Conservation Authority. This area supports a rich diversity of animals and plants. Securing these lands is an important step in our work to conserve nature in our community by purchasing and protecting land.
The Cootes to Escarpment EcoPark system is a joint initiative of ten organizations to protect natural lands from Cootes Paradise all the way up to the Niagara Escarpment. Over time and as possible, we hope to purchase and secure additional lands.
When you make a gift to this campaign before December 31, your contribution will be matched dollar for dollar. A gift of $50 will become $100; a gift of $100 will become $200. Your gift will help us protect natural lands forever.
