Are you a former "Camp Shalom" or Countryside Camp Staff Member, Board Member, or Volunteer? Since 1969 God's ministry here at camp has impacted the lives of over 30,000 summer campers, well over a thousand summer staff, many directors, committee members, and countless volunteers. The Christian impact and life changing transformations that have occurred at "Camp Shalom" are in the thousands, with hundreds of staff members (past and present) serving in business, agriculture, education, medicine, trades, and ministries around the world.
Alumni continue to support the work we do today on behalf of children, youth, young adults and individuals with "Special Needs" in a big way. They realize that as good as "the good old days" were, circumstances are not the same for this generation of young people in Southern Ontario as they were in the past. The issues and challenges children and youth face are more complex than ever before. Because of this understanding, and because they believe in the life changing ministry offered here at camp through the Lord Jesus Christ, they help to make sure our facilities and opportunities are available to children, youth and families for over 48 years are still accessible today.
For 2019, we have identified the renovations another Centre Hall Basement cabins or bedroom our fourth. In 2018 we finished the third of seven basement cabins. Dan Godwaldt our maintenance manager, is working on and coordinating the project along with staff and volunteers. Each cabin or bedroom has to have the interior walls removed, resurfaced and repaired before the insulation and finished plywood is applied. The flooring is stripped and the concrete refreshed before the large carpet tiles are installed. The ceiling painting and the installation of the finished trim make for a beautiful cabin for the guests and campers.
