Being a teen can be challenging, but growing up HIV+ with limited access to health care is another story.
HIV+ youth are particularly vulnerable to stigma and face gaps between pediatric and adult care. Without proper medication and treatment, HIV+ teens can miss school because they are sick from infections, which sets them back in their progress towards a long life and a hopeful future.
AIDS is the leading cause of death for adolescents in Africa. To save lives, Dignitas launched Teen Clubs to bring together HIV+ teens and provide them with medical care and counseling, as well as with a safe place where they can learn about their unique health challenges and form supportive peer relationships.
We know Teen Club works and we need your help. Our research shows that teens who have access to age-appropriate care through Teen Club are 3.7 times more likely to stay on treatment than those who do not.
Today, 36 Teen Clubs are reaching 3,800 HIV+ adolescents in one of the poorest regions in the world. Our goal for 2018 is to launch 16 NEW Teen Clubs in southeastern Malawi, which will reach over 900 HIV+ teens.
A donation of $60 or more means that a teen can go to Teen Club for an entire year - please give today!
