Disaster Aid Canada will be collecting funds to support those affected by the ongoing earthquakes in Indonesia and working with other Disaster Aid’s around the world as they will be doing the relief effort implementation.
Disaster Aid Australia is closely monitoring the situation in Lombok as the island continues to experience earthquakes. We are in daily contact with Rotary Clubs in Indonesia, Singapore,Malaysia, Disaster Aid Malaysia and the Indonesian Government. As at 11am, on Thursday the 16th of August, the Government of Indonesia through the BNPB (the Indonesian National Disaster Management Authority) maintains the position that international assistance is not required.
BNPB has also encouraged all agencies and organizations based in Indonesia not to invite the irinternational partners to provide aid.Whilst we all feel the need to assist our Indonesian neighbours, we must respect the wishes of the Indonesian Government.Disaster Aid Australia will continue to monitor the situation on a daily basis and remains ready to immediately respond when invited by the Indonesian government.
