Disaster Aid Canada is supporting the Rotary Club of San Juan and other Rotary Clubs provide earthquake relief on the Island of Puerto Rico.
Puerto Rico Has been hit by a swarm of earthquakes ranging from the 6.4 that did most of the damage on January 7, a 5.9 on January 11 and at least another 44 measuring over 4.00 on the scale. The aftershocks have made it difficult to provide support as bridges and roads are damaged or closed. Shelters are housing around 8,000 people and another 4,000 are in non-traditional shelters.
The south part of Puerto Rico is attracting international support but many of the smaller communities in the central part of the Island are also hard hit and require recovery and rebuilding support. Money raised through this campaign will help the under supported areas that need help now.
