COVID-19 has impacted Canadians nationwide, not only in their day-to-day activities, but in their mental health as well.
The Distress Centre of Ottawa & Region is working tirelessly to provide support to thousands in the communities we serve through our 24/7 crisis and support lines. In fact, at times during the past few months, our call volume increased by as much as 66% in relation to COVID-19, and we expect that the need for mental health support will continue well beyond the current pandemic.
We rely, in part, on businesses and individuals to support our 24/7 services and, in this worldwide struggle, we need your support more than ever to help us make up for lost revenue caused by COVID-19.Your donation helps us answer as many calls as possible during these challenging times. It helps us keep our lights on, train our volunteer Responders, work with community partners, and maintain our services intact. We have answered over 1.3 million calls to date in our 51 years of existence, and we want to ensure we can continue answering more calls, especially with the world in crisis.
