Operational Support Fund

WE CANNOT BUILD CONNECTION WITHOUT YOU

Distress Centres of Greater Toronto receives operational funding from the City of Toronto, United Way Greater Toronto, the Ministry of Health and the Region of Peel. This funding accounts for 30% of our operating budget. This means to operate we must fundraise 70% (approximately $900,000) per year to provide our free 24/hour programs. In addition, we see gaps in the community where DCGT can connect our community members and require additional support. We are inviting you to be a part of the solution in helping those within the GTA to become connected and less isolated.

This fund consists of operating needs beyond our annual fundraising agreements. To assist thousands of people within the GTA, each year we must recruit, train and support a complement of 600 volunteers. To ensure that our volunteers are prepared to the most vulnerable and at-risk members of our community, extensive recruitment, training, technology investment, and staff support are required. The average cost to ensure our volunteers are equipped and ready to support the community is approximately $900.000 per year or $1,500 per volunteer annually.

IMPACT

Our entire team of 600 volunteers responders combined answer an average of 187,200 crisis calls per year from our community.

The impact of one volunteer per year is the following:

* 2 Crisis Calls per hour

* 6 Crisis Calls per week

* 312 Crisis Calls per year
