COVID-19 stopped us all in our tracks. What we thought would be the future for our careers, our businesses, our families, and our way of life immediately changed.
"Our way of life immediately changed"
But the world will move forward in this new normal and DFS Ottawa is moving forward too. We are committed to helping women in the National Capital Region who have been disproportionately affected by mass lay-offs and the economic downturn access the services and support they need now and in the future.
HELP WOMEN MOVE FORWARD
On May 8th, DFS Ottawa is launching its newest initiative, Helping Women Now – a 45-minute virtual session to help women dealing with the impact of COVID-19 create a simple and direct action plan for their most pressing concerns. Thanks to partial funding from the Ottawa Community Foundation, Helping Women Now is available to all clients of Dress for Success, many of whom are mothers struggling right now as they navigate the stresses and new realities that isolation protocols and mass lay-offs have created.
Dress for Success Ottawa Client Ambassador, Diana, who, like many mothers trying to balance working from home right now with two young children, considers herself one of the lucky ones because the career of her dreams that Dress for Success helped her find is still secure.
"I worry about the other clients who have just started their journey at Dress for Success, and those who have lost their jobs or watched new opportunities disappear."
But our clients are not alone. The impacts of COVID-19 on women will extend past when physical distancing restrictions have eased. With your support, Helping Women Now can be offered to ALL women in Ottawa and continue beyond the summer and into 2021 to ensure that no woman is left behind. You can help provide a woman with a friendly voice to listen and empower her with a positive action plan to resource the professional services she needs to Move Forward.
DRESS FOR SUCCESS NEEDS YOUR HELP
Dress for Success can’t expand this program without your help. With the cancellation or postponement of many of our fundraising events, all of our current and upcoming programs, including Helping Women Now, are at risk. If we can raise, $26000 for this program, we can help hundreds more women across Ottawa find their footing and eventually, their dream careers, just like Diana did.
