Our FNESS ESS/Recovery division is supporting in regard to building ESS capacity in communities:
- Online training sessions aimed at increasing knowledge around the provincial ESS program so that communities know what it is and how to access it
- Training is aimed at understanding how community members can access ESS in both large and small scale emergencies
- Facilitating discussions around what resources communities already have that they can utilize in emergencies, and where the gaps are
- Supporting communities with understanding funding streams that target emergency preparedness and ESS
- Supporting FN communities in building relationships with local regional districts and municipalities as part of the pre-planning process for larger scale emergencies – building capacity regionally
- Supporting FN communities interested in building their own provincially recognized ESS team with appropriate training, mentorship, and creating their own ESS plans
- Support for FN communities actively experiencing large scale emergencies who are at risk of, or are currently, evacuating from their community.
- Helping community members understand the online ERA (evacuee registration and assistance) tool and the benefits of the BC Services Card app.
