FFP internationally is establishing partnerships to ensure that we can help Bahamians in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian, as quickly as possible, and to have the greatest impact and reach. We are partnering with The Sandals Foundation, who has a strong presence in the Bahamas and will help with the logistics on the ground. We continue to reach out to monitor the situation to ensure we provide the most important needs as soon as we can. Some airports are still underwater, and as soon as we understand the urgent and immediate needs of the different communities, we will determine how best we can help. We have several million water purification tablets thanks to the generous support of Scotiabank warehoused and ready to send once we have access to a port. We also have access to tarpaulins warehoused with FFP US in South Florida. From previous disaster relief experiences in Haiti, Jamaica and Dominica, we know both save lives.
A 20’x20′ tarpaulin for $15 provides a family with temporary relief protecting them from extreme conditions and preventing further damage to their home.
Canadians can donate to help us by purchasing tarpaulins so that we can provide as many families as possible with transitional housing until the rebuilding begins.
