Our past 75th season underscored for us, musicians and audiences alike, just how much our orchestra has grown. For fourteen years, and with the support of many, Tania Miller and Symphony musicians have lifted our orchestra from a modest small-town ensemble to one of the best regional orchestras in North America.
Since 1940, costs of producing concerts including instruments, theatre rentals, production, salaries and more have continued to increase. In 2016, ticket sales contributed only 23% towards expenses; a continuing downward trend for most arts organizations. At present, government funding pays for 24% of expenses and philanthropic Victoria Symphony donors contribute the rest.
The Victoria Symphony is undergoing a fundamental change: moving forward with new Music Director Christian Kluxen! The Artistic Excellence Campaign shines the spotlight on the future, thus ensuring a vibrant and resilient tomorrow and keeping music alive for future generations to enjoy.
