Why are we focussing on spay and neuter sponsorships?
As cost of living increases, it has become increasingly difficult for pet guardians to provide care for their animals. We made a decision to not only provide supports such as food and assistance with vet care, but also contribute to prevention of pet overpopulation.
In January of 2024 we committed to provide 100 sponsorships for spay and neuter of companion animals. This was 10X what we had supported for spay and neuter in 2023. We completed our commitment by August 21st, and we have a wait list for more.
Thanks to the incredible support from our veterinary clinic partners, who also contribute time and cost savings towards our sponsorships, we were able to complete 100 spays and neuters (including large dogs and complicated surgeries) for approximately $40,000.00.
We have paused to fundraise so we can continue to provide these sponsorships, and have a wait list.
Our sponsorships go to a broad demographic, including seniors on fixed income, families who are experiencing financial hardship, and many other specific circumstances. What they all share is a desire to provide the best possible care for their pets. Prevention of litters is a significant boost in providing longer term stability in care for these pets.
In addition to spay and neuter, we also provide help with end of life care. Providing financial support for compassionate euthanasia can prevent significant suffering for both animal and guardian.
