About Fresh Start Maternity Supports and The Family Central Apartments
Fresh Start Support Services (formerly Rehoboth Girls Home of Refuge and Support) now consists of Fresh Start Maternity Supports and The Family Central Apartments. Both of these programs are under the umbrella of Fresh Start Support Services and its charity registration but gifts can be designated to either program and are administered separately. Please indicate on the drop down menu under 'Donate now' section which program you wish to support.
Fresh Start Maternity Supports, located in St. Thomas Ontario but serving the entire province, provides a safe environment and extensive support to pregnant and parenting women, many of whom are facing challenges related to addictions, mental health issues, abuse, and homelessness. Women may also come to Fresh Start simply to develop parenting and life skills, obtain support, and gain stability. Fresh Start operates as a faith-based, non-profit organization that serves all women regardless of age, race, ethnicity, personal faith or socio-economic status. Residents are not required to adhere to our religious faith, it is expected that all residents behave in a respectful manner while attending. Fresh Start is not a detoxification, rehabilitation, mental health, treatment, or medical facility. Any individual seeking immediate intervention must first seek appropriate help from the above mentioned facilities. We are an abstinence-based program.
The Family Central Apartments, located in Aylmer Ontario, provides supportive housing to men, women and families who are looking for assistance in building a better future through working towards education, employment and life skills goals. This is an integrated building with Intentional Neighbours acting as mentors to Program Participants. A Community Support Worker provides formal support to the program for several hours each week. Weekly social, educational and supportive meetings are available for residents to attend. Some apartments are geared to income and others are market value.
