Frye Festival

Registered Name: FESTIVAL LITTERAIRE INTERNATIONAL NORTHROP FRYE INTERNATIONAL LITERARY FESTIVAL

Business Number: 862316213RR0001

Our Mission:

The Frye Festival exists to feed imaginations, to foster the discovery and enjoyment of reading and writing by bringing together authors with audiences of all ages in an annual bilingual celebration of words.

About our Charity:

The Frye Festival is a bilingual international festival of books, ideas and the imagination held the last week of April in Moncton. Since 2000, the Frye Festival has welcomed more than 515 authors, including Richard Ford, Antonine Maillet, Alistair MacLeod, Lawrence Hill, Dany Laferrière and Margaret Atwood.

The week-long celebration of reading and writing includes more than 60 dynamic events and 130 presentations in schools. More than 10,000 students meet and interact with authors, share their literary talents with our community and develop life skills such as literacy and critical thinking.

The Frye Festival commemorates Northrop Frye, a man who rose from humble roots to attain the stature of a world-renowned thinker. Frye spent his formative years in Moncton, NB, honing the ideas that he would spend the rest of his life developing, namely his deep commitment to an informed and civil society.

The Frye Festival relies on donations from community-minded individuals and corporations, raising nearly half of the annual budget through donations, sponsorships, community partnerships and box office revenue.

The Frye Festival is THE event for lovers of books, ideas, and imagination in Atlantic Canada.
