This project takes its roots following the artistic workshops (music and cartoon drawing) set up in 2018 at the Temporary Accommodation Center (CHT), supported by Give a Hand and conducted in collaboration with the local association of artists- the Malagasy Foulosophes. Music lessons have not only allowed children to work rhythm and coordination, but also develop their abilities to listen and respect others. As for the drawing workshops, they led to the creation by children of a graphic novel on street childhood awareness. Distributed to the general public, this graphic novel was an opportunity for the population of Antsirabé to better know and understand street kids, and to deconstruct the prejudices of which they are victims in Madagascar. The children having greatly appreciated the drawing activity and the teachers who also discovered talents among them, we decided to continue these workshops from November 2018. These will now take the form of a real drawing program given by an experienced teacher, Mr. Tsila. This project aims to provide a place for children to express themselves, a place where emotion is expressed. They will then be able to tell their story and draw it. They will be able to transform their traumas into a narrative that may be liberating for them. The visual arts will also be used to prepare spoken word presentation and simply open doors to oral expression later.
