Golden Lake camp realizes that the families of some children just can't afford to send their children to camp. Not to Golden Lake Camp. Not to any camp. So the Board of Golden Lake camp does an almost unheard-of-thing. Golden Lake Camp agrees to subsidize any family who need financial assistance to send their children to camp. Not just a few families - but - any family. Over the years, hundreds of children have come to Golden Lake because no family that has asked for assistance has ever been turned down.
Today, over one hundred children each summer - 20 to 25 percent of those attending - are subsidized according to their situation of need.
Here's your opportunity to be involved. Golden Lake Camp has always operated on a tight budget. And, at year's end, up until now, there's always been at least a little money left in the bank. But expenses keep increasing, while the needs remain as great as ever. So we're working hard to get others involved in this incredible aspect of Golden Lake Camp.
The average amount of subsidy requested by families needing assistance is $200. That means that, for a donation of $200, you can send a child to camp who otherwise could not afford to be there. This is a integral, core part of what makes Golden Lake Camp the most amazing part of the summer for over 400 children and young people every summer and it would be incredible to reach our goal of raising $20,000 for camper subsidy this summer - which is how much subsidy we granted. We're almost there!
