The holiday season is just around the corner, and we’d like to invite you to help us do something special for Giving Tuesday.
I’ve just received a letter from a social worker named Donna. She’s concerned about several residents at Aberdeen Hospital who literally have nothing to wear.
For many of the seniors that Donna works with, wearing normal clothes is no longer possible. They’ve lost much of their strength and mobility, requiring an overhead lift just to get out of bed, or to transfer to their wheelchairs. Some also have contractures – muscles and tendons that have become too tight to move. With these conditions, dressing is just too difficult and painful.
There are companies that make adaptive clothing, clothes that open at both the front and back to make dressing simpler and pain-free, but the residents that Donna writes about can’t afford these clothes themselves.
Can you help us raise $3,000 this Giving Tuesday to buy them new clothes? Please make your gift today and share this page with friends and family who aren't yet Eldercare supporters. It only takes a minute to do, but it will make a big difference this holiday season!
