"We didn’t just get a home. We got a fresh start, a new beginning, a sense of freedom. I am happier, less stressed, more confident. I love our home, our community and I like the person I am becoming. I am so grateful."
-Angela, Habitat partner family since 2014
Habitat for Humanity Fredericton Area is a non-profit charitable organization working towards a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. Habitat for Humanity brings communities together to help families build strength, stability and independence through affordable homeownership.
Habitat works with families who otherwise could not afford a home of their own, and helps them realize their dream of homeownership.
With six families housed this year, Habitat for Humanity Fredericton has now had the privilege of helping 40 families throughout our region achieve the stability and independence of affordable home ownership. We have been fortunate to have the ability to partner with a broad array of families – from a family of nine who were living in a two-bedroom apartment to a single elderly gentleman with only his dog for companionship. The majority of families that we work with are living in homes that are unsafe, overcrowded or simply not affordable. We often see children, particularly, experiencing the ill effects of living in homes that are overcrowded, moldy, cold or simply not safe.
“When we heard we were going to be Habitat homeowners, we shed tears of joy. Home
means a place of security, a place of peace, and a place of love.
This home gives our children a foundation to stand on for years to come.”
-Corey, Habitat partner family since 2018
We have just completed construction of our first accessible home build – which we are very proud of! This home was built for a Habitat family who is in the midst of facing tremendous health struggles. Their situation is made all the more challenging as all members of the family have progressive physical disabilities. Their home was constructed so it is fully accessible to meet their current needs and future anticipated needs.
"Breeding hope in a place where many feel hopeless is a contagious thing. Working with
Habitat allowed us to breed a little hope. Our time with Habitat showed us that we can
work together to make a difference.”
-Jessica, Corporate Volunteer
During this giving season, we hope you will consider supporting our efforts. It is only through the generosity of our wonderful donors, partners and volunteers that we are able to build homes – and build hope – for these amazing families. Your support makes it possible for us to build homes for families who otherwise would not have a safe, secure and affordable home of their own.
We thank you for your consideration of support. We wish you peace and happiness in your home this Christmas!
Building Homes. Building HOPE.
