Help Us Help Them!
Happy Tails Farm Sanctuary is a volunteer run charitable organization founded in Harrowsmith, Ontario by Carla and Harold Moore. Providing safety and sanctuary to farm animals, educating youth and bringing the community together are the hallmarks of our mission.
Through summer camps, sanctuary tours and events, and educational programs we endeavor to provide a safe and inclusive environment to school and community groups, children with special needs and disadvantaged children and families. Happy Tails is situated on 17 acres of pasture and forested land and specializes in rehabilitating animals who have been abused, neglected and abandoned.
Community: Open to the public from May to October we have had thousands of visitors through summer camps, daily tours, wellness events, PA day program, class trips , yoga, summer youth programs, community group visits, volunteer opportunities, and our annual pancake breakfast. All of our events at the sanctuary are by donation, as we never want money to be a barrier to our community members.
Military: We are very proud of our partnership with the Canadian Forces through the Rehabilitation, Re-integration, Recovery program. Through this program we offer active military members and veterans with PTSD and other disabilities the opportunity to work hands-on with animals to facilitate their healing.
Education: Educating youth and offering the opportunity to learn through animals is the core of our mission. Allowing children to learn by play and experiencing the animals by seeing, touching and interacting is extremely impactful. It is our goal to offer an inclusive experience to all children, regardless of socio-economic status or physical and cognitive ability. We aim to build an accessible education centre to welcome youth of all ages and abilities to come and experience the sanctuary and its learning opportunities.
We Need Your Help! In order to build our education center, we need the help of our generous local and online communities. Happy Tails Farm Sanctuary is completely volunteer run: that is, we offer our time and effort, our land and our barns in order to achieve our mandate. 100% of your contribution will come back to the sanctuary. Our sanctuary and education programs are unique to the area and we strive to build our programs in order to even better service our community. In order to meet the demands of our community and to offer even more value and opportunity to our organization we need to build a physical education building.
The education centre is estimated to cost approximately $70,000. Tax-deductible donations may be made online here.
