An introduction to Wildlife Rehabiliation and the raising of orphaned mammal babies. (This education day does not displace a basic skills course).

The day is filled with information needed before you start rehabilitating mammals from what permits and authorizations you need to learning about nutrition, protocols, medical care and more. 

In ON (and most of North America) it is illegal to be in possession or to rehabilitate wildlife without proper permits and authorizations. 

This day is organized by the Ontario Wildlife Custodians, City of Hamilton Animal Services, Hamilton Health Unit and Hobbitstee Wildlife Refuge


9 am: Anthropomorphism and why it is so important that we don't do it

9.30 - 10.30 am: Wildlife Rehabiliation and what you need to know before you take that step. 

10.30 - 12 pm: Wildlife Nutrition

12 - 12.30 pm: Lunch

12.30 - 1.00 pm: Rabies and zoonotic disease education

1:00 - 2.00 pm: Intake process and basic physical exam

2.00 - 3.00 pm: Mammal Baby Raising

3.00 - 4.00 pm: Practical (using cadavers)
