On August 26th, 2018, our beloved Hornby Island School burned down, and we have a lot of work to do!
HIES has opened a separate credit union account for those who wish to donate to rebuilding our community school.
Your donation will help to demonstrate the value we place on our our community school, both the K-7 programs and all of the other ways the community uses our school each and every day.
The existence of the 'school renewal fund' will remind decision-makers that the community components of our school, from the natural history exhibit to toddler programs to the daily community use of the gym and library, are integral elements that we cherish and rely on.
Your donation may enable the community to leverage additional government funding, and will help cover financial gaps based on community priorities, after the insurance and School District apply their financial resources.
Some of the monies will be used in the short-term to support educational programs and transition activities.
The School District, HIES, and the Parent Advisory Council will collaborate to prioritize disbursements from the fund.
As HIES is a registered charity, we will issue donation receipts. Canada Helps generates a tax-deductible receipt for you as soon as you make a donation.
Thank you for your support!
