100k for the Hospice Way!
100K for the Hospice Way! Friday, July 3, 2020
Join or support me as I take my 25 year-old bicycle for a 100 km (6 hour) ride along the trails of North Simcoe – the area that Hospice Huronia and it’s Tomkins House serve. This pandemic has really impacted charities financially and this is a great way to raise some funds for our local hospice without worrying about physical distancing or masks! Despite the pandemic, Tomkins House, our local hospice, was able to open its doors in April and provide much needed end-of-life caring support to 11 individuals so far. I’m asking you to support my fundraiser, if you can, and help Hospice Huronia continue to serve north Simcoe residents with a full range of hospice care (in-home and in Tomkins House) and bereavement support into the future.
Yes, this is a challenge. I’m not a serious cyclist with fancy tight clothes. I normally only bike around my country block (10 km, ½ hr) so this is 10 times harder than what I’m used to! If you have a bike and would like to join me for any portion of the route, it would be wonderful to have company! Contact me directly 705-686-3157, email@example.com to work out the timing. If you’re cycling, you’re welcome to join my team and fundraise for this great cause too! You could even do it virtually if you’re not into cycling.
Starting early morning in Coldwater, I’ll be heading to Waubaushene and the Tay Trail, enjoying the scenery. This will take me to the trail through Midland, along the gorgeous waterfront and through the beautiful paved trail in the tall forested area leading to Penetanguishene and it’s waterfront. From there I’ll head into Tiny and enjoy my favourite part of the trail, the 12 bridges and then head south to Elmvale. After a quick bite to eat, I’ll head east, back to Coldwater along the Moonstone Road and by then will be dreaming of my pool and hoping its warmer than the 68 degrees it is at the moment!
Please support this fundraiser for Hospice if you can.
P.S. Raindate (heavy winds or extreme heat day) will be the next good cycling day!
