Social issues are complex. They impact a considerable number of individuals within a community and are usually out of an individual's control. Fundamental to our mission to provide unique services in response to existing and emerging community social issues, Hollyburn Family Services Society has been supporting the North Shore’s most vulnerable youth, seniors and families since 2004 through collaborative and innovative programming.
25% of the homeless population is elderly and the North Shore has the highest number of homeless youth per capita. We exist as an organization because poverty is an underlying factor to many of the issues we encounter, that homelessness is a result of unaffordable and unavailable housing, that factors exist in our community that marginalize youth and domestic violence crosses all incomes, cultures and neighbourhoods.
