Since 2009,Tamil Canadian Walk has raised over $500,000 for deserving charities in Canada and around the world – Sick Kids Foundation (2009), Canadian Cancer Society (2010), Amnesty International (2011), Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (2012), Holland Bloorview Foundation (2013), Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation (2014), Sampur Resettlement (2015), Canada Batticaloa Friendship Farm (2016) and Thennamarawady Resettlement (2017).
The 2018 recipient is no exception to this amazing network of charities.This year, Tamil Canadian walkers will be fundraising for the Northern Province Palliative Care Initiative, a joint venture with Cancer Aid North and East, Two Worlds Cancer Collaboration and the International Medical Health Organization Canada.
This initiative has the power to transform thousands of lives in war-affected Northern Province. Walkers will be raising funds to improve and expand a community mobile unit that will serve cancer and non-cancer palliative patients in their homes.
Your generosity will make a true difference in the lives of palliative patients:
$50 will buy medications for palliative patients in need
$100 will provide for the Palliative Care Van and Driver
$250 will fund the Palliative Care Mobile Unit Team - Doctor, Nurse and Health Care Assistant
$500 will support patients in the new divisions to be covered by the Palliative Care Mobile Unit
$1,000 will improve the lives of thousands of patients and family members in Northern Province. Your generosity will be recognized with your name on a plaque at the Cancer Aid North & East (CANE) Jaffna Hospice, commemorating the 2018 Tamil Canadian Walk
