Long-term Desired Outcome
Our 5 to 10 year goal is to house people who are homeless (or about to lose their housing) through existing and new shelter beds. This is a very dramatic and measurable outcome that we can demonstrate with the data we currently collect. BC Demographics suggest our region will see an increase of people experiencing a housing crisis of one sort or another for many years to come so emergency shelter is a primary service that must be maintained.
Our 10 to 20 year goal is to create a wide range of shelter and support services that are affordable and sustainable. We believe that safe, secure, reliable housing is the foundation people need to build healthy lives. Our pilot projects and years of experience teach us that a range of housing options with varying degrees of support is most effective.
Thrifty efficient housing with adequate staff and long term maintenance and improvements is our holy grail. We believe that a non-profit organization with a depth of experience like ours is the most likely to see these goals accomplished and developed over time.
