About Kingston WritersFest
For sixteen years, this literary festival has been a cornerstone of Kingston cultural life, hosting readings, onstage conversations, performances, and Writers Studio master classes for emerging and established writers.
Among our author alumni are Nobel Prize winner J.M. Coetzee, John Vaillant, Thomas King, Margaret Atwood, Ian Williams, Wayne Grady, David Mitchell, Joyce Carol Oates, Michael Chabon, Louise Penny, Jane Urquhart, Emma Donoghue, Esi Edugyan, Lawrence Hill, and Omar El Akkad, to name a few.
We collaborate with Queen’s University and numerous local arts partners to bring the power of words in all their forms—fiction, poetry, memoir, mystery, romance, graphic novels, and more—to readers of all ages, backgrounds, and interests.
Thank you for supporting Kingston WritersFest. In these uncertain times, when we often feel impotent to effect change, here is a chance to ensure the survival of a powerful force for good—a forum where ideas are discussed openly, where people come together for inspiration, insight, and delight.
Our Vision
To be a community that celebrates the power of the written word by connecting readers and writers in inclusive conversations that inspire, engage, and expand our worldviews.
Our Mission
To promote diverse literary expression, develop and grow an audience for the literary arts, and foster the artistic development of writers of all ages.
