Walk for World Peace - Following in the Footsteps of Buddha
Kadampa Meditation Centre Vancouver
About the walk
Join us this June for a beautiful walk in Lynn Canyon Park. It will be an enjoyable day and meaningful opportunity to spend time with your spiritual friends, and class teacher - maybe you can sponsor them too! We are meeting at 9:30am, and the walk is due to start at 10.00 am to walk (5.5 approx) through the park. We will take the trails across the Suspension Bridge, and around Rice Lake, and will stop for a short meditation, and conclude the walk around 12.00pm for lunch at a picnic area near the beginning of the trail. Please bring a packed lunch to enjoy (we’ll provide snack packs and some drinks).
Raising funds for public benefit
All proceeds from the sponsored walk will go towards the International Temples Project (ITP) an International fund dedicated to public benefit, that supports the growth and development of KMC Vancouver. KMC Vancouver is a registered charity dedicated to giving the people of Vancouver and surrounding areas the opportunity to learn the methods to cultivate inner peace and happiness, through meditation and Kadampa Buddhist practices for daily life.
The International Temples Project was founded by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso with the aim to introduce the Buddhist faith and practice of the New Kadampa Tradition publicly, and to show how individuals and society benefit through the practice of Buddhism in modern day life.
Constantly adapting to meet the needs of modern society, the International Temples Project presently achieves its aim through creating traditional and non-traditional temples, meditation and retreat centres, and through the activities of Kadampa schools, World Peace cafe´s and Tharpa Publications.
We are asking for a $15 donation from each adult (or more if you would like to make an extra donation), $5 for children and babies go free. The fee includes the snack pack. To help raise further funds you can register as a participant and get sponsored by your friends and family in the walk. To register for the walk, keep reading below!
