The late Peter Gzowski's Vision for Literacy
In 1985, award-winning Canadian broadcaster and journalist Peter Gzowski organized a fun-filled golf tournament for a few friends to raise some money to support adult literacy. 33 years later, his ‘little fundraising idea’ evolved into the annual Peter Gzowski Invitational (PGI), a national series of locally produced literacy fundraisers featuring musicians and celebrities. Literacy Haida Gwaii is proud to organize and host our 6th annual PGI fundraiser for island literacy initiatives. Haida Gwaii is an archipelago off British Columbia’s west coast, in Canada. 100% of the funds we raise directly support our local literacy programs. Our charity provides literacy services to children, adolescents, adults and families.
Literacy on Haida Gwaii means supporting adults wanting to go back to school for their high school credits or learn a trade, developing new job skills, learning the traditional language, understanding health and financial issues. Most importantly, we need to be lifelong learners in a modern world.
Join us TODAY and help make a difference in the lives of islanders on Haida Gwaii.
