For over 28 years, Little Wings Daycare Centre Society has been operating a loving and supportive childcare facility supporting families of Sea Island residents, employees, and the surrounding region. We currently support over 47 families with full- and part-time programs for children ranging from infants to five years old. Today, our continued existence is at risk without the support of our community.
Earlier this year, our long-term land lease was unexpectedly ended at the Air Canada Operations Centre on North Service Road on Sea Island. Thanks to support from Vancouver Airport Authority, Little Wings is taking flight to relocate from our home of nearly three decades to a new property on Sea Island.
While we are excited about the potential this move holds, it requires significant resources to move our three existing buildings, playgrounds, and set-up new infrastructure before the end of December 2019. This is all at a significant cost. We are currently sourcing a number of funding options, but it’s clear this will extend well beyond our capacity as a non-profit society to fund alone. Today, our facility is at risk if we don’t meet our near term relocation funding requirements.
Our dedicated parents and volunteers have now set a fundraising goal of $300,000 to ensure the successful relocation and long-term survival of our facility.
Today, we’re urgently asking for your financial support to help us reach our goal to ensure Little Wings can continue to provide quality childcare on Sea Island. Whether you can only donate a few dollars, or if you have greater capacity to help us get a lot closer to our goal, we welcome all contributions.
