The Oasis Coffee House Saturday Program, is accessed by some of the highest risk youth in the City, providing crisis response, meals, food bank support and access to laundry among other key supports. The program's primary objective continues to be is to foster a community that will be safe and welcoming for street-involved and homeless youth at the Saturday program.
Often a first point of contact with youth happens through Living Rock's Open Access Programs, such as the Saturday Program and Hamilton's only youth food bank. This program remains to be the only program available for youth 13-25 on Saturdays. Living Rock believes that a great community is where all youth belong, can actively participate, contribute and also receive support. The Saturday Weekend Program, Oasis Coffee House does not feel like a "soup kitchen" rather a Coffee House that is inviting to youth. Essential supports are available such as a warm meal, access to showers, clothing, toiletries, youth food bank, phones, and access to do laundry. A "work-to-earn" model is built into the program. Youth who are in need bus tickets can earn one by helping out with a chore. These services provide a connection point to youth who are at greatest risk of falling through societal cracks and who are often facing personal crisis.
