Markham at the Movies is a Toronto Film Circuit partner, bringing Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) film screenings to the Markham and York Region communities since 2010. The group has been the recipient of the Markham Performing Arts Award for Community Group of the Year.
Pursuing TIFF’s belief, every Canadian should be able to see world-class, award-winning films in their hometown and to showcase Canadian filmmakers, allowing them to be seen by wider audiences, Markham at the Movies provides a monthly film season running September thru March, with film choices made with the intent to entertain, enlighten and sometimes challenge audiences. Audiences enjoy films out of the ordinary and that are not typically screened at mainstream cinemas. But further setting the group apart, is the experiential component, with film themed guest artists/speakers and education about the films, all right in the local community.
Help us bring these award-winning films to the local Markham and York Region communities. Markham at the Movies is 100% volunteer-run, with operations dependent solely upon fundraising, sponsors and ticket sales.
