Our Education Mission
To help students form strong and lasting bonds with their environment through hands-on, outdoor, experiential learning. Too often students are forced to learn about environmental issues such as erosion, climate change and biodiversity while confined in the four walls of a classroom. Leaving many students lacking the emotional, real life connection for what they are learning. Through our programs we help schools bridge the gap between environmental and life science learned in the classroom and its implications to the real world.
About Our Charity
The Meduxnekeag River Association Inc. was formed in Woodstock, New Brunswick in 1995 as a community-based non-profit environmental organization. Since 1998, the Association has acquired and protected as the Meduxnekeag Valley Nature Preserve 18 environmentally significant properties totaling 900 acres. The Association hosts an annual fundraising Dinner and Auction in Woodstock every spring; organizes an annual student Environmental Showcase competition at local elementary schools; guides walks for student groups on the Nature Preserve trails; preforms environmental monitoring experiments with youth; guides public walks; and maintains over 20km of well marked low-impacted trails that are free for all to use.
