From the hot city streets to Moorelands Camp!
This year, instead of sending kids to camp, we are sending camp to kids! Learn more about our Virtual Programs here.
Moorelands Camp on Kawagama Lake near Dorset, Ontario, makes summer camp happen for 700 Toronto children and youth whose lives are affected by poverty. Without you and the Send a Kid to Camp campaign, they would not have that valuable summer camp experience.
Tucked away on 45 acres of sandy beaches and dense forests, accessible only by boat, is Moorelands Wilderness Camp. A gem in the Algonquin Highlands, each summer our summer camp welcomes 600 children and youth from some of the poorest neighbourhoods in Toronto.
Swimming, canoeing, drama and music, kayaking, ropes courses, arts and crafts, and overnight tripping… the spirit of the wilderness! And built into all this fun are deeper leadership skills – skills necessary for life success – skills like communication, perseverance, listening, problem solving and teamwork.
Our staff care deeply about the campers, supporting them as they practise positive interactions with each other and with adults, and celebrating their achievements. Campers return home bursting with great stories of their personal accomplishments, new leadership skills and wonderful memories.
To sponsor one child costs $1200. Parents pay what they can, but their contributions cover only a fraction of this amount.
This summer, please give this unique leadership opportunity to a child in need by helping us send a kid to camp. You can help us help kids!
