Our board of directors has finalized the 2020 strategy
Since the renewel of the Concil's charitable status in August 2017; a dynamic Board of Directors coming from a variety of educational and cultural backgrounds was elected at the Annual General Meeting in March of this year. We believe this will diversify our efforts to make NCCAR a leading national organization on informing and educating Canadians about the history, culture and political realities of the Arab region and its peoples.
The National Council on Canada Arab Relations strives to inform Canadians about the realities of this commonly misunderstood region of the world, and about the significant contributions of Arab Canadians to our way of life. Whether from the rural ouliyas in Morocco, Algeria or Tunisia, the bustling metropolis of Amman, Cairo, Beirut, Algiers, Dubai, Damascus, or Baghdad, or from the shattered communities of Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Lebanon, or Palestine, the diversity of peoples who have settled in Canada from the MENA region are helping to make Canada a better place.
Activities and Programs
NCCAR, in partnership with Gowling WLG Law firm, cohosted "The Celebration of Arab Women Leaders" in October 2018.
The event was a celebration of the achievement of Arab women with two esteemed panel speakers including her Excellency Rima Alaadeen, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Canada, and her Excellency Souriya Otmani, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Canada.
The Canada and Palestine Symposium was held in February 2019 and the turn-out was robust, all the rooms packed to over-flowing for a truly impressive line-up of outstanding scholarship, ground-breaking research, brilliant moderation, informed commentary and new connections were made.
NCCAR is actively seeking your support to help us reach our goals, rebuild our membership base, offer informative and educational activities to Canadians of all origins, and help strengthen relations and understanding between the people of Canada and the MENA region. We offer a range of educational programs including seminars, conferences, research internships, leadership development programs, as well as Parliamentary internships to young Canadians interested in the Arab world.
