When did you first dream of becoming a lawyer? Did you or someone you know overcome obstacles to get to law school?
Not everyone has equal access to legal education. Barriers come in many forms. Many students must overcome significant hardships to attend law school. In response, the OBA Foundation has created The OBA Foundation Scholarship to help deserving students realize their dreams of becoming lawyers.
With your support, the Scholarship will improve access to legal education in Ontario. The Scholarship, with its financial grant, will be awarded annually to a student or students who have demonstrated resilience in overcoming obstacles to reach their goals.
Established in 1987, the OBA Foundation promotes public legal education and advances innovative research with the goal of improving the justice system. Ongoing work at the OBA Foundation includes funding projects that promote legal education and access to justice in marginalized communities, such as San Romanoway Revitalization Association sponsored programs; high school trial moots across the province; and fellowships in law and ethics.
“We believe the justice system is strongest when it embraces and reflects all individuals it serves,” said Steven F. Rosenhek, Chair of the OBA Foundation.
The OBA Foundation is launching a campaign to raise $500,000. These funds will endow The OBA Foundation Scholarship, providing at least $10,000 annually to a deserving student or students. The monies raised will also allow the OBA Foundation to offer a greater number of awards and grants consistent with the Foundation’s priority of funding projects that promote equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Will you support this scholarship, and assist those who have demonstrated resilience in overcoming obstacles?
