We need support for Phase 2 of the capital projects: the acquisition of a property as a permanent site to house the Chinese and Multicultural Partnership Operation offices and community outreach activities.
As of now, we have raised about $400,000 which includes $250,000 in matching funds from the BC Government. Recently, we have successfully identified and offered on a permanent site. Our goal is to raise an additional $450,000 to purchase the entire building and land.
This two phase fundraising campaign for capital projects was launched in July 2016. Phase 1a was completed in October 2017. A commemorative sign depicting the role Chinese immigrant pioneers in the Okanagan was erected at the entrance to Kelowna City Park. Phase 1b heritage murals in the Kelowna historical Chinatown will be completed in June 2019.
