Our vision is for British Columbia (ORC) to be a world leader in the conservation and enjoyment of outdoor places, and for all British Columbians to have access to diverse and abundant opportunities to enjoy outdoor recreation experiences.
ORC represents the interests of the outdoor recreation community to government and industry, advocates for and facilitates access to public lands and waters for outdoor recreation, and fosters responsible use of BC's outdoors through education.
We work on behalf of the interests of over 50 provincial and regional member groups, representing over 100,000 individuals, to protect the outdoor recreation way of life in BC, building bridges and providing forums for the exchange of views.
About the Outdoor Recreation Council of British Columbia
Founded in 1976, the Outdoor Recreation Council is a research, education, and advocacy organisation. The Council's members represent the full spectrum of land and water-based recreational activities in the Province. As a respected voice for outdoor recreation in BC, the Council provides information and advice on recreation policy and management practices. We work cooperatively with government, industry, and other groups.
