To our community,
Many things have transpired in this last week and I wanted to provide you with an update. During this pandemic Peel Children’s Aid Foundation will continue our commitment to children, youth, and families involved with Peel Children’s Aid. Our children, youth and families are especially vulnerable during these uncertain times.
Can you imagine being a child in care or a youth living independently during this pandemic? These are the children that need your support now more than ever before.
We are reminded of a famous quote from Mr. Rogers during these times. “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping”. ~ Mister Rogers
We need our friends to ensure that Peel Children’s Aid Foundation can continue to be “the helpers” to the most vulnerable children, youth and families in Peel.
Here are some somber facts to help you understand the challenges our families are facing:
- With COVID-19 closing daycares, schools, libraries, and our youth programs, our families who were already living on the margins are being pushed past the brink of survival.
- Stress is a contributing factor in domestic violence and child abuse, therefore, an increase in cases is expected. - As the price of food and goods is rising and shortages emerge, our families are not able to stock up on supplies and groceries. Many of our single moms are going hungry to feed their children.
- For our youth living on their own, many have already been laid off from their jobs. These are the same youth with little to no support system around them. Without this steady income, many will be evicted and at an increased risk of homelessness.
Our Child Protection Workers at Peel Children’s Aid are working hard to ensure the safety and well-being of our children, youth, and families. Our children, youth, and families are a priority and we are reaching out to them to discuss how we can further support them.

Thank you for your on-going commitment to our children, youth, and families. Stay safe and healthy!
