KidStart mentors support children and youth at-risk to ignite their potential. With a strengths-based approach, mentors support the development of interpersonal skills to guide these children towards opportunities, opening doors to their community. KidStart mentors model resilience and foster social inclusion. Most importantly, our mentors are flexible, creative, patient, reliable and spend the time it takes to develop trust. KidStart relationships are open-ended and many remain active for years.
The kids we help may be struggling with problems at home, at school, or in the community. Their diverse circumstances often make them ineligible for other programs. We carefully screen, recruit and train caring adults to mentor these kids. Through the gift of time, our mentors help them grow, thrive and connect with the community they call home.
