Every year the PEI Humane Society appeals to the community for it's greatest need, animal care and operation costs. With your help, the only Island shelter for homeless animals stays open. Can you help animals in our care have a Happy Tail?
The Happy Tail of Buck the Puppy
Buddy (now Buck) is a four-month-old Coonhound puppy who was found in the most peculiar circumstance; stuck in a tree with a fractured leg! With his new injury and long term rehabilitation needed, his owner could no longer care for him. He spent two months healing at the shelter and in foster care. Buck wasn't a relaxed patient; with the energy of a puppy who needed to be on rest, he chewed off many casts and cones, and veterinarians replaced many splints. Buck is no splint free and fully recovered. He was adopted to Daniel Podpallock, who takes him for gentle walks on his rural property. They do scent work, tracking and he loves his new sister Gabby. Gabby and Buck get along famously and love to sing Coonhound together. Daniel says, "Like peas and carrots they were."
