What got you through the coronavirus shutdown? Was it the sourdough bread craze or did you read books to get through the extra time at home? The “new normal” now for many people includes carrying around a few extra pounds. The Prince George Humane Society together with Alisha Adams Lifestyle have created a fun and interactive way to help people lose those quarantine pounds while supporting their efforts to ensure that every pet finds a safe furrever home.

The Prince George Humane Society has faced some tough economic challenges, but Covid-19 made it particularly hard to fund our much needed community services. We get 100% of our operating funds from donations and fundraising programs and have had to look at alterative ways to raise money for the animals.

The Prince George Humane Society invites everyone to join the Pounds for Hounds 8 week weight-loss challenge. This challenge provides the incentives people need to set — and keep — a weight-loss goal while raising money for the animals. This fundraiser also encourages individuals to create teams and work collectively to motivate and encourage their personal goals.

STEP 1: Set your weight loss goal and set a fundraising goal.

STEP 2: Register and pay the $50 registration fee. The registration fee gives you access to an exercise and meal plan by local trainer Alisha Adams, as well as an app with your workouts at your fingertips, a messaging group to share your progress with teammates and the ability to sync your devices (Fitbit, Apple Watch).

STEP 3: Create a personalized or team fundraising web page that you can add photos along with a personal message to your supporters. IMPORTANT: When setting up your page, please ensure you add your FIRST AND LAST NAME (otherwise you won't receive your workout email invitation) and a fun page name to catch attention!

STEP 4: Share your page with friends and family and start collecting donations towards your personal or team goal. You can track your progress and see who made a pledge online.

STEP 5: Within 24 hours of registering on CanadaHelps, you will receive an invitation to a website called Trainerize to set up your profile.

Good Luck achieving your personal goal and we look forward to reading you stories and watching your progress.
