I am a Saskatoon general pediatrician and my goal is healthy, happy kids everywhere. I am lucky to care for kids in incredibly diverse settings: in the hospital in Saskatoon, up North in La Loche and Ile à la Crosse, in inner city Saskatoon at the REACH refugee clinic, and finally at Sanctum 1.5’s home. Through this work, I have seen first-hand the devastating effects of separating kids from their families: to have healthy kids we must have healthy parents who are able to care for them. Sanctum 1.5 is doing just that: supporting moms in vulnerable periods so that they can be healthy parents.
I have accepted the Sanctum Survivor Challenge out of admiration for my patients and their families: I have seen them thrive beautifully despite immense road blocks, and I want to show my solidarity. Hopefully I can better understand what it means to be in their shoes, if only for 36 hours. With your help, we can build a better future for them.
