Dr. Peter Butt is a father, grandfather, member of the Saskatoon community and Sanctum board member. His wife and children are members of the Saddle Lake Cree First Nation. Through his personal life and work in Family Medicine, Indigenous Health and now in Addiction Medicine he is acutely aware of the many challenges more marginalized people face in accessing care and services. He is also amazed at their resilience, and how well people can do with the right combination of support, services and opportunities. Advocacy is an important part of his community, committee, health system, education and research work. Beneath his calm, quiet, serious demeanour there are rumours that he actually has a sense of humour.
“I chose to participate in Sanctum Survivor to support the amazing work that Sanctum does to help save and change lives.”
