My name is Sibasis Daspal. I work as a Neonatologist in Saskatoon. Other than looking after sick newborn babies in Intensive Care, I also take care of babies with drug withdrawal in clinic. I have been running this clinic in Royal University Hospital over the last few years. During this time I got to see not only the clinical side but the social aspect of the babies and their mothers. Last year I had the opportunity to be involved in the opening of Sanctum 1.5. Sanctum projects are unique. As a physician I cannot emphasize enough how important it is for these babies to be with their families, and, even more importantly, with their mothers!
I am originally from India, and now settled in Saskatchewan. I feel privileged to work here in Saskatchewan looking after children who need help and I will continue to do so to pay back the country and province who gave me so much. I’m honoured to be part of this initiative.
